Save Cypress Creek The preliminary report by Tom Aley, Hydrogeologist, has been submitted to ADEM. The findings in this report show that the Florence Landfill is indeed leaching into nearby springs and ultimately into Cypress Creek. At this time, we are waiting on ADEM's response and hoping that this agency will do the right thing in protecting our environment from the damage that the landfill is causing. The Chief of the Solid Waste Branch of ADEM is Phil Davis. His e-mail address is PDD@adem.state.al.us. He has received a copy of Tom Aley's report on the Hydrogeological Assessment of Groundwater Contamination at the Florence Landfill, and he has posted this report on the ADEM e-File Website. We encourage all who are concerned about the serious and continuing groundwater and surface water contamination resulting from the operation of this landfill to contact Mr. Davis and urge his agency to act appropriately. |
